There was no American hairless terrier crossing the Slovak borders till 2004. First AHT's were imported to Europe in 2005 and they have found their families in Finland. Few months later the plane from New York reached with next 5 AHT's to the Czech Republic and just among them were also the parents of our Ainy - hairless Camille and coated Buddy.
Girl of American hairless terrier born on June 6th, 2005 became on August the first AHT of Slovakia. She gave birth to the first litter of American hairless terrier in Slovakia on April 25th, 2007.
At the beginning these hairless terriers were recorded as hairless variety of Rat terriers but after diligent work was this terrier on January 1st, 2004 recognized as separate „American hairless terrier“ breed.
AHT is very playful, curious and intelligent breed, easy learning all the owner’s requirements. They have usually good contact with children, friendly to other dogs, even without the problems with cats’ coexistence. Not on the last place the breed is suitable for Agility and other sports as well.
